Digital representation offers numerous advantages in both historical and modern contexts, but it also comes with its own set of limitations.
When we send a signal analog and digital will always pick up noise. With analog it is hard to tell if the noise is coming from the microphone or the signal.
Without analog we would not have ever become digital.
Limitations to digital include the fact that we cannot sample to set an exact replication of waveform; if we do we are just using too many numbers and that is useless.
